A Tuxedo Made for Formal Occasions
A tuxedo isn't just a dark suit — the lapel, the trouser stripe, the buttons, and the fabric are all different from a regular business suit, and getting those details right is what separates a proper tuxedo from a suit that just happens to be black. We build tuxedos the same way we build our suits: pattern-based construction, hand finishing, and fittings until it sits right.

Tuxedo Details

Lapel Style
Peak or shawl lapel, usually finished in satin or grosgrain to contrast with the main cloth — this is one of the details that instantly signals "tuxedo" rather than "dark suit."

Fabric
Fine wool or a wool-mohair blend, chosen partly for how it holds up under evening lighting and partly for comfort through a long event.

Shirt and Trousers
A tuxedo shirt usually has a different collar and front than a regular dress shirt. Trousers are cut with a satin side stripe, without belt loops.
See our Bespoke Shirts page →
Buttons and Finishing
Covered buttons in a single-breasted style are most common, though we'll talk through alternatives depending on the formality of your event.
Tuxedo Fitting Process
Same process as our suits — consultation, measurements, pattern, construction, and fitting. Because tuxedos are usually needed for a fixed event date, we'll plan the schedule around that date the same way we would for a wedding suit.

Tuxedo FAQ
Depends on the dress code. If the invitation says black tie, a proper tuxedo with the right lapel and trouser details will look noticeably different from a dark suit — we can talk through what's appropriate for your event.
Timing depends on the fabric and fitting schedule, especially if you have a fixed event date. As a guide: Usually 3–4 days, with two to three fittings. 48-hour express service is available for travelers on a tight schedule — two fitting.
We focus on making tuxedos rather than renting them. If you're unsure whether buying makes sense for your needs, message us and we'll talk it through.
Yes — see our Bespoke Shirts page for collar and front options that work with formalwear.
If the tuxedo is for your own wedding, our Wedding Suits page covers the full timeline. This page is for any black-tie event.
